New Blog!

I finally made a blog for the Bioko trip. It is at http://threeandahalfdegreesnorth.blogspot.com/. There is ongoing construction at the DAC (Drexel Athletic Center) and we trapped for two days at JHNWR but only caught a few painted turtles. Here are the pics.

Friends in Mass

Last weekend after running with Dad I went to visit some friends in Massachusetts, Veronique, Will and their new baby, Ruben. We went hiking at the Lyman Reserve. Here is my car for the weekend between two cars with Massachusetts plates.















Will is a trail steward for the Trustees of Reservations, a land trust organization.

The dogs are ready to go! Jackson is the big dog that looks like Shadow. ;)

New Site!

Steve and Raj are not standing in the spatterdock, but sitting in a canoe.



















Here Raj is about to do a headstand in the canoe, with snapping turtles. We told him that the presence of snapping turtles does not increase his difficulty score for men's gymnastics. Also the judges do not add points for acrobatics performed in a canoe on the water. The snappers did not get any parts of Raj during the attempted headstand.

Spider on the bike

On Friday, as I biked to work, I noticed a spider on my handle bars and tried to take its picture. I didn't notice to the web when I pulled the bike out of the driveway. If the spider landed on my bike as I rode, it would have had less than 7 minutes to weave a web (using both my handle bars).
I deposited the spider on a bush as I rode by. Here is the pic. See that brownish smudge! The spider is not squashed onto my tire but suspended in the air between handlebars and tire.
